Are you planning on spending your day in the kitchen? If so, why keep your bedroom heated at the same time? Heating and cooling costs for your home can skyrocket if they aren’t controlled. For keeping costs down, efficiency is the name of the game. Luckily, ductless mini-split systems are all about efficiency.
If you live in an older home, the usual approach to heating your home is to install a ductless system only if your home doesn’t support a heating and cooling system that requires ducts. However, there is an alternate solution. With a mini split ductless system, you can select the rooms you want to heat, which gives you more flexibility and savings on your energy bill.
What Is a Mini Split Ductless System?
Ductless mini-splits are heating and cooling units that have two components: an outdoor condensing unit and one or more indoor air-handling units. The indoor units are connected by a tube through your wall. The connecting tube delivers liquid to the indoor unit, where a fan blows air over the coils to heat and cool the space. By being relatively small in size, they can be installed in easily shaded places.
The outdoor unit can handle as many as four indoor units, which allows you to set different temperatures for each room of your home.
Why the Mini Split Systems Are So Efficient
Typical forced-air heating and cooling systems can lose up to 20-30% of cooling and heating efficiency through air leaks in the ductwork. Since mini-splits don’t require ducts to disperse heat, you won’t experience the same energy losses. Here are some other benefits of the mini-split system:
- They are quick and easy to install and can be up and running in one day.
- Unlike conventional heating methods, mini-splits can be adjusted to heat only occupied rooms.
- You can create custom heating/cooling schedules with timers and sleep functions.
Enhance Your Home’s Energy Efficiency
Whether you want to get rid of the outdated baseboard heaters in your home or improve your new home’s energy-efficiency, a ductless mini-split unit could be the right choice.
Looking for another incentive? Ductless mini-split systems are eligible for 0% HEAT Loan, which offers up to a 7-year term and up to a $25,000 loan. Because of the 0% interest rate, the HEAT Loan can help offset some of the installation costs for your energy-efficient ductless mini-split; you won’t have to worry about rising payments.
